Gaming and Uncertainty

You are invited to participate in a study conducted by graduate students and faculty in the Department of Communication. Our research team is interested in learning more about how teams work together to solve complex problems, and we are in need of participants.

We are offering $10 an hour for participating in this study, and sessions will last no longer than 3 hours. If you participate in this research study, you will be asked to come to 3053 Lincoln Hall (702 S. Wright Street) and play a counter-insurgent video game with other University of Illinois students.

Should you wish to take part, you will be asked to register at the link below for a time slot to come to our research lab space in Lincoln Hall. Completion of the in-person component of the study should take no more than 3 hours. If you you would like to participate in this study, you will need to choose the date and time that work best with your schedule from the sessions listed at the registration link below. There you will be asked to sign up with your name and university e-mail address. If a session is already full (there are 9 participants already signed up), then please sign up for a different date/time that you are available to participate. If you would like to participate and there are no sessions available, or all available sessions are already full, please email us through the form on the contact page and we will contact you as soon as additional sessions are offered. We will be adding sessions every week or two, so if there are no current openings or you are unavailable for the listed sessions, we will email you when new sessions open up.

Please take your commitment to participate seriously! Last minute cancellations and failure to show up for a session negatively impacts your fellow participants as we may be unable to run the session. We hope you see the academic value in this investigation and encourage you to participate!

Total duration: 3 hours
Compensation: $10 per hour

Notes: No prior gaming experience is necessary, as we will train you to play this game. Participants must be 18 years or older and be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. If you are unable to keep your appointment or would like to change your session date or time, please let us know ASAP by e-mailing us through the form on the contact page so we can update your registration in the system. If you participate in this research study, you will be asked to come to 3053 Lincoln Hall.
